Ever since the beginning of House music, Brandon has been into it. Growing up in Chicago, he got an early start in the rave, club and music scene in the early 1990’s. He quickly learned the ropes of DJing, buying new music and making mixtapes, which led to bookings at clubs and one-off events.
Through late 1990s, Brandon lived in Northern California and Denver, Colorado. He quickly became one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s favorites in the underground community, best known for being one of the first Jungle/Drum & Bass DJs in the region, with various club residencies and regular performance at after-hours parties and raves. While in Denver, his career as a House and Techno DJ really took off. Brandon played at the largest events in the Central and Western United States, receiving international recognition through radio shows and a tiring touring schedule. After spending the next two decades being based in Seattle and Los Angeles, he’s is now in Malta, where he continues to spread his sound.
As Brandon Plank, his House and Techno mixes are known for songs blended in transitions that last for 2 to 3 minutes or longer, stretching the very limit of how they can be played, leaving listeners often wondering when one song has stopped and another has started.
Under the pseudonym ‘PLANK’, his Drum & Bass and UK Garage mixes flow between styles and subgenres seamlessly, with an energy that is hard to beat, gravitating towards Hip Hop/Grime/Drill vocals and, dark, unique sound elements. It’s the long transitions, along with the ability to mix several genres that has given him name recognition across the map.
Brandon has been hosted on radio stations across the world, including Comfort Sessions (San Francisco), Heavy Industries’ (Los Angeles), Planet Sauce (NZ), stations in Hamburg and Berlin (DE), and Club Basement Radio (DK). In addition, he’s been producing and remixing music for over 20 years, with releases on JUngle Cakes, Gorilla Warfare, Vandalismo, Depth Recordings label, *Cutz, Nightlight Music, Selekta Recordings and many others.
